Canonsburg man among 10 indicted on drug charges

Ten people, including a Canonsburg man, were indicted last week in a superseding indictment by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal narcotics, money laundering and firearms laws, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Among those indicted was Frederick Ellis, 39, of 226 Hooks Lane. Two others were from Georgia and the remainder were from the Pittsburgh area. He is charged with two counts of conspiring to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.

According to the superseding indictment, from July 2011 through March 20, the defendants conspired with one another to distribute and possess with intent to distribute large amounts of cocaine.

Additionally, two of the defendants are charged with conspiring to launder the proceeds of the illegal drug

trafficking. A federally administered Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force conducted the investigation.
