1 min read

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say a man was found dead in the burned ruins of his home after fire destroyed the one-story frame house in southwest Ohio.

The cause of the fire reported about 9:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning has not been determined.

Hamilton Deputy fire Chief Jeff Shaw said Thursday the 37-year-old man’s body was found in the living room of the home and he was the only occupant.

Shaw says a neighbor kicked in the back door of the house in an attempt to attack the blaze with a garden hose but was unsuccessful.

The man’s name wasn’t released pending autopsy results from the Butler County coroner’s office.

Shaw estimated damage at about $50,000.
