Greensboro to host electronic recycling event

GREENSBORO – A free electronic and universal recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20 at the Old Greensboro School, 404 Second St., Greensboro. People from Greene and Fayette counties and all river towns are invited to participate.

The event is being held to give people the opportunity to dispose of electronic items, which can no longer be included in curbside trash collection as the result of the Covered Device Recycling Act.

The event will be held by Advanced Green Solutions Inc. of Walnutport, in conjunction with Greensboro Borough and the Greensboro Elm Street Project Clean Safe and Green Team.

There will be no charge for dropping items off at the event. People will be on hand to assist those who bring items to the school that day.

Items that will be accepted include:

Telephones and cellphones, televisions, cardboard dehumidifiers, keyboards and mice, floor copiers, cables and cords, washers and dryers, stereos and speakers, dishwashers, printers and fax machines, stoves, refrigerators and floor freezers, DVD players, VCRs and game systems, air conditioners, desktop and laptop computers, LCD monitors CRT monitors, word processors and miscellaneous electronics, non-PCB ballast and hard drives, batteries and fluorescent light bulb.

Recycling kits, as well as hard drive destruction certifications, are available upon request for a small fee.
