Deaths of father, son probed as murder-suicide

1 min read

LEHMAN – Authorities say the deaths of a man and his son in their northeastern Pennsylvania home are being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.

Luzerne County officials say they were called to a home in Lehman near Lake Silkworth just before noon Wednesday.

Acting Coroner William Lisman said Robert Stolarick Sr. and 26-year-old Robert Stolarick Jr. apparently died before sunrise Tuesday.

He said it appeared that the elder man shot his son in the bedroom of the home before turning the gun on himself.

Police said they found no note at the scene and the motive for the shootings was unknown.

Stolarick Sr.’s sister, 47-year-old Donna Estus of Georgia, said the family had been concerned about her brother’s mental state.

But she called him “an awesome father” whose son “was his life.”
