• Discussion: Several property owners protested council’s implementation of a $75 inspection fee on landlords when there is a change in tenants. Councilman John Bevec said landlords should be prepared to return to council with an alternate means of ensuring rental property is free of blight and is safe for the new occupants. Inspections at Valley View Terrace would handled by the Washington County Housing Authority.

• Action: Council agreed to hire a new public works employee to fill a position that became vacant when Carl Lawrence was promoted to public works director.

A request for a Greenwood Village tie-in with North Strabane was referred to the public safety commission.

• Next meeting: 7 p.m. April 15 in the municipal building

• Date: April 1

• Action: Council voted to give a one-year contract extention to Allied Waste for garbage removal in the borough. Residents will continue to pay the same rate through spring of 2014, roughly $45 every three months.

Council voted to accept the resignation of sewage authority board member Tom Elias and replace him with Steve Boehm.

Council voted to approve Brad Resnik as a new full-time police officer.
