Summit deadline extended

1 min read

The deadline for sixth- and seventh-grade girls to register for the 13th annual Sister to Sister Summit of Washington County has been extended to 4 p.m. Thursday. The Summit will be held Friday and Saturday at Citizens Library.

Part of an international series of Sister to Sister Summits, this overnight conference is sponsored locally by the Washington branches of the American Association of University Women and Business and Professional Women and Outreach Teen and Family Services with support from Citizens Library, Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Washington Hospital Teen Outreach.

At the summit, peer facilitator-led small group discussions and a variety of other activities will address critical areas of concern such as dealing with peer pressure, decision making, creating positive friendships, body image, bullying, personal safety and self-defense, and dating and relationships. Team-building activities, “purposeful fun”, refreshments and ample sleep time will round out the agenda.

Prospective participants or interested parents should contact summit co-coordinator Kathy Sabol, AAUW-Washington, at kathy@washcobar.org or (724) 225-6710. In addition, copies of the registration form and summit information were mailed to all high school and middle school guidance offices or can be downloaded through Facebook or at www.sistertosistersummit.org.
