University schedules its annual spring concert
WAYNESBURG – The Waynesburg University department of fine arts and music program will host the annual spring concert titled “Poems, Patterns & Polyphonies” at 7:30 p.m. April 20 in Roberts Chapel. Admission is free and the public is invited.
“I love the spring concert each year because the ensembles have been through a full year of growth together and the combined efforts always seem to come to fruition in this concert,” said Dr. Rhonda DePriest, chairman of the department of fine arts and director of the music program.
Concert music will feature songs and arrangements from the classical, romantic and 20th century repertoire. The Lamplighters will highlight melodies with thought-provoking texts from the 20th century. For the symphonic band, the spring concert represents a yearlong study of wind band music from the medieval era to the 20th century.
“Each semester, we have returning students who continue to show their desire to make music in their daily lives whether they are music degree seekers or not,” DePriest said. “That is one of the beautiful facets of the music program at Waynesburg.”
Doors will open at 7 p.m. No reservations are necessary. For more information, call 724-852-3420.
