3 charged in McDonald assault
Two McDonald teenagers and a Pittsburgh boy were charged by McDonald police in an incident last month on East Lincoln Avenue.
Police were called March 27 for a report of a fight in the 300 block of East Lincoln, with a person on the ground being punched by several people. Another officer reported he had detained two people involved in the fight in the parking lot of TJ’s Deli Mart.
One of those detained, a 14-year-old McDonald boy, admitted to police he had assaulted at 14-year-old Robinson Township boy. The other 14-year-old lives in Pittsburgh but was staying with his grandparents in McDonald.
The alleged victim told police he was jumped by the two boys as well as a 17-year-old McDonald boy. The 14-year-old Robinson boy told police he was walking along East Lincoln when he saw the 17-year-old. He said the older boy then chased him on East Lincoln to Center Avenue.
The Robinson boy told police when he reached Magnolia Street, he was confronted by the two 14-year-olds. When he turned to run the other way, he was confronted by the 17-year-old, who hit him in the back.
The alleged victim told police after he was hit, he fell to the ground and was repeatedly kicked and punched by the 17-year-old. He said the 14-year-old McDonald boy also jumped on him and punched him in the face several times. The other 14-year-old also reportedly kicked him in the head.
One of the 14-year-olds charged in the case told police the 17-year-old went after the victim because he would not participate in an underage drinking party that had been planned for an upcoming weekend.
The 17-year-old, who was on juvenile probation, was arrested for a probation violation and taken to Jefferson County (Ohio) Juvenile Detention Center. The other two boys were released to parents or grandparents.
All three teens accused in the assault were charged in juvenile allegations with simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and harassment.
