Two arrested on drug-trafficking charges
WAYNESBURG – Two people were arrested in two separate incidents and charged with drug trafficking.
State police arrested Tyler J. Hoyle, 22, of 185 Bradford Road, Waynesburg, Saturday following a traffic stop along Grimes Run Road in Franklin Township.
Police said they stopped Hoyle for an invalid registration and he gave permission for a search of the car after police detected the odor of marijuana.
Cpl. Steven Dowlin retrieved a bag of suspected marijuana, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and $3,257 from the car. Hoyle was taken to the state police barracks, where he reportedly admitted to Dowlin that he routinely sold heroin from a residence at 1160 N. Porter St., Waynesburg. Dowlin said Hoyle also told him about a recent gun purchase and told police where the gun was located. They found and seized a .40-caliber pistol from a box inside a tree behind the residence on Porter Street.
Hoyle is charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, prohibited possession of a firearm, possessing a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two summary traffic offenses.
Hoyle was placed in the Greene County jail in lieu of $30,000 straight cash bond. His preliminary hearing is set for at 1 p.m. April 15 before District Judge Lee Watson.
On Monday, police arrested Devon R. Garrett, 24, of 176 Huffman St., Waynesburg, at the AT&T Store in Greene Plaza in Franklin Township.
Garrett was taken into custody at Greene Plaza for allegedly trafficking in heroin at the store. Police seized 142 bags of suspected heroin and $512 from Garrett.
She is charged with manufacturing, delivering or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in the Greene County jail in lieu of $30,000 straight cash bond.
Her preliminary hearing is set for at 2:30 p.m. April 18 before District Judge Glenn Bates.
