Valley Brook Road project to begin; roads to close

1 min read

Drivers who travel along Valley Brook Road in Peters Township, or who use the ramp leading to and from Valley Brook and Washington roads, will need to find an alternate route for about 18 months when the long-awaited, multimilliion dollar realignment and reconstruction project begins.

On Monday, township council learned the first closure is expected to occur May 15 at the intersection of Old Washington and Valley Brook roads. About three weeks later, the ramp and a portion of Valley Brook Road will close, forcing motorists to find a different way to get around.

Council learned Monday that temporary stop signs will be needed to help regulate the additional traffic on neighborhood streets. An official detour will be posted once the closure occurs, however, that detour will follow state-owned roads and township officials expect drivers to find shorter routes through residential areas.
