Carroll Township man to stand trial in wife’s shooting death

A Carroll Township man was ordered to stand trial today for shooting his wife while she slept last month. Ronald George Powell, 70, was held for court after a preliminary hearing in Central Court on a homicide charge in the March 29 death of Leslie Powell, 62, at the couple’s home.

Police accuse him of retrieving a shotgun from under his bed at about 3 a.m. and shooting his wife in the head. Powell was returned to Washington County Jail.
