Father, son arrested by Houston police

3 min read

A Chartiers Township father and son were arrested Wednesday night by Houston police in connection with a domestic dispute at a home on Second Street.

Arrested were Donald Wright, 53, and Donald Lee Wright, 23, both of 529 McGovern Road, Chartiers.

Police were called about 11:10 p.m. for a report of a boyfriend and girlfriend fighting at a home at 115 Second. Police were told the boyfriend was trying to remove their baby from the home, and that the two reportedly got into a screaming match and assaulted each other.

When police arrived, the younger Wright had left the house. As police took a statement from Jessica Schmidt, the father and son returned to the house on Second.

While police tried to talk with the younger Wright, his father reportedly got between his son and Officer Glenn Pasquale in an apparent effort to stop the officer from talking with the 23-year-old.

Pasquale pushed the father away. The elder Wright then got into the officer’s face and started to scream at Pasquale, who again pushed the 53-year-old Chartiers man, police said. The younger Wright then got into his vehicle and fled, according to police.

When Pasquale went after the younger Wright, police said his father tried to block the road with his body, but the officer drove around the elder Wright. As Pasquale passed in his cruiser, the elder Wright allegedly tried to punch him through the driver’s side window and was able to grab the officer and rip off his traffic vest.

Police from North Strabane Township and Canonsburg assisted Houston police in the pursuit of the younger Wright. Chartiers police alerted officers that he resided on McGovern.

North Strabane and Chartiers police arrived at the home and found the vehicle, as well as footprints leading into the home. Canonsburg police took the elder Wright, who had returned home, into custody. Medics were called to check him after he complained of pain resulting from the earlier incident with Pasquale.

The younger Wright agreed to turn himself in after getting a call from his father, police said.

Both men were arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller. The elder Wright is charged with aggravated assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. The younger Wright is charged with harassment, simple assault, disorderly conduct, fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving and careless driving. He was placed in jail on $5,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing for both men is set for April 22 before District Judge David Mark.
