Peters school director forum planned
Seven candidates are running for the office of Peters Township school director in the upcoming municipal primary election on May 21. The public is invited to attend a nonpartisan candidate forum on at 7 p.m. April 23 at the Peters Township Middle School auditorium. Co-sponsors are the League of Women Voters of Washington County, the Peters Township PTA Area Council and the Peters Township Chamber of Commerce.
All seven candidates running have confirmed their attendance at the meeting: Lisa Anderson, Rebecca Bowman, Lori Cuervo, Cynthia Golembiewski, Dr. Jamison J. Hardy, David Hvizdos and Sue Smith. The seven are vying for four open positions. As this is a primary election to elect the party nominees for November’s general election, only voters registered as a Republican or Democrat can vote on candidates. Anderson, Bowman, Cuervo, Golembiewski, Hvizdos, and Smith have cross-filed on both the Republican and Democratic ballots. Hardy has filed only on the Republican ballot.
The goal of the forum is to give voters the opportunity to hear from the candidates in person on a variety of issues. Candidates will be given equal time for an opening statement and then will respond in turn to written questions from the audience. There will be an opportunity following the forum to talk with individual candidates.
