Police beat April 12
Runaway teen: State police are looking for Eric Huweart, 14, who ran away about 5 a.m. Thursday from Mel Blount Youth Home, Route 221, Buffalo, after reportedly crawling out a window. Huweart, who was placed at the facility by a Washington County judge, is white, 6 feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt. He will be charged in a juvenile allegation with disorderly conduct and escape.
Table stolen: Paul McCullough of 425 Giffin Ave. told Canonsburg police Wednesday that a white, cast iron table was stolen from his back porch.
Charged in theft: Zachary Mark Petrola, 20, of 868 Spring Valley Road, Scenery Hill, was charged Thursday by state police with theft, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct. He is accused of stealing a cash box containing $1,911 from Pscolka Woodworks, 38 Franklin St., Cokeburg, on March 22. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Two injured: Gabrielle Marie Tozzi, 21, of Pittsburgh, and Gregory Hardesty, 21, of Christy Road, North Strabane, were injured Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Routes 19 and 519. Tozzi, who was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, told police she became lost after missing the turn for Route 51. Police said they found suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Blood was drawn to determine if Tozzi was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, police said. Hardesty was taken to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
Pump damaged: A gasoline pump at Washington Honda, Washington Road, was damaged Thursday by vandals. The gasoline inside was also compromised, South Strabane police said.
Resisting, marijuana charges: Mark D. Malloy, 29, of Pittsburgh, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and false identification to police stemming from an April 4 incident in the 1000 block of Jefferson. Washington police initially were called for a report of a shot being fired. Police said Malloy was seen trying to put something in his pocket as he attempted to enter a building at 1090 Jefferson, and that he gave officers a false name. When police learned his correct identity, they determined he was wanted on a warrant and placed him in the Washington County jail. Redlinger set bond at $5,000.
Heroin charge: William Fields, 22, of Pittsburgh, was arraigned Thursday on charges of possession of heroin and hindering apprehension after Washington police said he tried flushing five stamp bags down a toilet at 60 S. Main St. on Nov. 29. District Judge Robert Redlinger set bond on Fields, who was in the Washington County jail on other charges, at $5,000.
Paraphernalia, disorderly charges: Anthony L. Fields, 26, of 1795 Park Ave., Washington, was arraigned Thursday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident Monday at 125 W. Beau St. District Judge Robert Redlinger set a $5,000 percentage bond on Fields, who is in the Washington County jail on other charges.
Arraigned in assault: Ronald A. Paith, 32, of 466 Ewing St., Washington, was arraigned Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and criminal mischief stemming from an incident Tuesday in the 700 block of Ewing. He is accused of punching Richard Kozwalski and cutting Fred Riggle with a box cutter. District Judge Robert Redlinger set bond at $10,000. Paith was in the Washington County jail on a bench warrant.
Theft, other charges: Jesse G. Lewandowski, 29, of 902 Chartiers St., Washington, was arraigned Thursday on charges of false identification to police, theft, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property. He was accused of stealing 10 vehicle transmissions from 860 Chartiers on Feb. 15 and selling the items for scrap. He reportedly gave police a false name. District Judge Robert Redlinger set bond at $5,000 for Lewandowski, who was in the Washington County jail on other charges.
