Sex offender jailed for failure to report
WAYNESBURG – Robert William Kronk, 22, of Jefferson, was sentenced by Greene County Judge Farley Toothman to 2 to 4 years in prison Wednesday for failure to report an accurate address as required under Megan’s Law for sexual offenders.
Kronk was found guilty in January 2011 of indecent assault on a person under the age of 13 and indecent exposure following a one-day trial before Greene County President Judge William Nalitz. He was arrested after having sexual contact with a boy at a home in Monongahela Township between Oct. 1, 2009, and March 31, 2010. Police said they were alerted to the crime by a relative of the boy who had come to the house and witnessed the assault.
He was sentenced in April 2011 to 8 to 23 ½ months in jail and required to register as a sex offender.
In an unrelated case, Kronk was also sentenced by Toothman Wednesday to serve 30 days to 2 years consecutively to the 2 to 4 years for charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. On Dec. 16, Kronk took an all-terrain vehicle from the residence of Traci Baker, 220 Third Ave., Cumberland Township, without permission.
Police located the ATV at a business in Jefferson. The property owner told police Kronk tried to sell the ATV to him but he refused to purchase it. Kronk then asked if he could leave it there because he had nowhere else to store it.
