Library program to focus on child abuse

1 min read

CARMICHAELS – The Flenniken Public Library will host Where We Live, a program to engage adults in community prevention of child abuse.

Adults need factual information and skills to promote healthy relationships, both with their own children and with other adults in their area.

In this program, parents and caregivers will build intervention skills to deal with inappropriate situations, learn to ask questions in non-judgmental ways, and to discuss and report the abuse of children.

The program will be presented in a series of four two-hour sessions from 5 to 7 p.m. May 2, 8, 15, and 22.

Snacks and participant incentives will be provided. Attendance will be limited to 15 participants. Each session will include a take home activity for parents to do with their children and to discuss at the next program session.

The leader is Renee Presto, Prevention/Education Specialist with the STTARS Program of Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services Inc.
