Probation given for false report

1 min read

A Waynesburg woman who was charged with giving a false rape report to police was sentenced this week to one year probation, 50 hours of community service and to pay $300 in fines, plus court costs and fees.

Jamie Marie Gump, 29, of 136 Lahew Drive, Waynesburg, pleaded guilty in Greene County Court Wednesday to charges of making false reports to law enforcement.

Gump called Greene County 911 Nov. 27, reporting she had been a victim of a rape. She was transported to Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg, where she told police a man pulled her into the back seat of his car and raped her near Wade Street in Franklin Township.

Gump was interviewed a second time Dec. 2 at which time police noted several inconsistencies in her account. When confronted with them, Gump admitted she lied. She told police she agreed to have sex for money with an unknown male, but when he refused to pay her, she called 911 and reported a rape.
