Police: Ex-PSU student dove from window

2 min read

STATE COLLEGE (AP) – A former Penn State student ran down a sixth-floor hallway of an off-campus apartment building and intentionally dove out a window before he was found dead on the street outside, authorities said Tuesday.

An autopsy on Joshua Zornberg, 24, was scheduled for today, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said.

State College police said in a statement that video from the University Gateway building showed him a running down the hall and “intentionally diving out the hallway window.”

Authorities responded to a call of someone lying in the middle of the downtown roadway near the Penn State campus about 1 a.m. Tuesday. The man suffered significant trauma, and medical personnel found no vital signs when they arrived, police said.

“From the review of the video, it was apparent that the man did not fall or accidentally go out the window,” Chief Tom King said in an email. Police will not release the video publicly.

The statement from Sayers’ office did not include an address or hometown for Zornberg.

Last fall, a 19-year-old Penn State cheerleader suffered serious head and pelvic injuries following an accidental fall from a fifth-floor window at another downtown building during a party. In that case, police filed misdemeanor charges of supplying alcohol against eight Penn State students.
