Police beat April 27
Father arrested: John M. Rosenberger, 45, of 544 Park Ave., Canonsburg, was arrested Thursday by borough police after he allegedly grabbed his 16-year-old son by the throat and threatened him with a grilling fork. Police said Rosenberger and his wife got into an argument because he had not vacated their house before she arrived home from work. Police also found a suspected pipe. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of simple assault, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Two jailed: Shane Hooper, 22, of 407 Duquesne Ave., Canonsburg, and Jamar Jones, 19, of 194 Lawrence Ave., Washington, were placed in the Washington County jail on probation violations after Canonsburg police got a complaint they were smoking marijuana on a street in the borough’s East End.
Generator stolen: Jeffrey Ranieri, 34 Elkie Drive, Canton, told state police this week that his blue, 4,000-watt Chicago Tool generator was stolen from outside his home this month.
Husband charged: Brent Amendola, 28, of 214 W. Country Barn Road, Chartiers, was arrested Thursday by township police after he allegedly assaulted his wife, Alicia Amendola. Police said he pushed her off the back deck of their home. Police also found him with a suspected narcotic pill. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of simple assault, harassment and possession of amphetamine. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Drug arrest: David A. Sawyer, 39, of Springfield, Ohio, was arrested Friday morning by North Franklin police after he was found with 26.1 grams of suspected heroin, 20.6 grams of suspected marijuana, 16 blunts and a digital scale inside a room at Days Inn, 1370 W. Chestnut St. Police, who were there for another incident, could smell marijuana and went to the room. Police also found $3,200. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin and marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Driver injured: Raquel Preston, 36, of 562 Tannehill St., Canonsburg, was injured Thursday morning when her vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Julie Smith, 44, of 153 Valleycrest Drive, Cecil, in the 1200 block of Route 519, North Strabane police said. Preston was stopped to make a left turn into a driveway. Smith told police that she did not see Preston stop because she was distracted by children in her vehicle.
Escapes injury: Andre Kazouh, 50, of 11 Cypress Drive, Canonsburg, escaped injury when his vehicle went through the lawn at the North Strabane Township building and struck a tree next to the front doors just after 6 a.m. Thursday. Police were in the parking lot of the station when they heard a loud crash and saw the vehicle coming off Route 519 northbound. Kazouh will be charged with careless driving.
Woman injured: Nicole Woodman, 27, of 829 Frederick Court, Canonsburg, was injured Thursday when she pulled out from Fulton Road into the path of a vehicle driven by Kristina Filoni, 25, of 107 Old Meadow Court, Canonsburg.
Paraphernalia charge: Kurt Michael Karmann, 22, of 1204 Sunset Drive, Bulger, will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he was found with empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, needles, a pipe and spoon during an April 11 compliance check by Washington County adult probation, McDonald police said. Karmann was placed in the Washington County jail on the probation violation. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
Wire stolen: Erik Thomas told state police earlier this month that electric wire was stolen from an outdoor pavilion at 235 Lanik Road, Somerset.
Money stolen: Money was stolen over the past six months from at least five women working at The Caring Mission in Washington, city police said. One reported the theft of $200 on April 25, but when police came to investigate, they found four other women who had lost various amounts of cash. Police are investigating and said they have a suspect in the case.
Drug charge: Washington police said they charged Geoffrey Brown, 29, of 940 Fayette St., with possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop Thursday night. Police said they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia during the stop on McCarrell Avenue.
