Somerset sues Marcellus Shale firm over condition of Lusk Road

1 min read

Somerset Township is seeking $246,531 in damages from a West Virginia Marcellus Shale drilling company the township says left Lusk Road in poor condition in 2011.

Township solicitor James Liekar filed a writ Monday in Washington County Court in addition to filing a claim with the bonding company, Mountain V Oil & Gas Inc. of Bridgeport, W.Va.

On its website, Mountain V describes itself as a “successful, privately held oil and gas production company that was formed with the intent to acquire and develop oil and gas reserves in the Appalachian Basin.”

It says it is now operating in West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. An emailed request for comment from Mountain V via its website received no response by Tuesday afternoon.
