Former state Sen. Fumo set to leave prison
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Lawyers for former Pennsylvania state Sen. Vincent Fumo say he’s scheduled to leave a federal prison in Kentucky after spending four years behind bars for defrauding the state Senate, a South Philadelphia nonprofit and a seaport museum of millions of dollars.
The 70-year-old Democrat is expected to leave the prison in Ashland, Ky., on Tuesday. The newspaper reports his fiancee, Carolyn Zinni, is scheduled to pick him up and make the drive back to Philadelphia.
Fumo must report to a halfway house and will be transferred to the supervision of the community corrections managers of the Bureau of Prisons for the last six months of his sentence. He’ll work as a $10-an-hour assistant at the law firm of his lead attorney, Dennis Cogan.
