Police: Escaped Ohio inmate may have stolen truck
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Police said a pickup truck from a water department in central Ohio may have been stolen by an inmate who walked away from a work assignment along Interstate 70 Monday.
West Jefferson Police Chief Terry Ward said video surveillance of the water department shows that the man who stole the truck Thursday matches the description of the escaped inmate 28-year-old Spencer Johnson.
The truck was driven through the department’s gates, according to a police report. The truck’s bed has three 100-gallon fuel tanks to refuel construction vehicles.
Johnson’s family Thursday pleaded him to turn himself in.
Johnson is a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds. When last seen, he was wearing a state-issued khaki shirt and khaki pants.
