Trinity students strive to impact local community
Members of Trinity Area High School National Honor Society and its leadership committee want to make a difference in the communities included in the district.
Jordan Pruce, president of the honor society, along with other members of the organization, appeared Thursday at the meeting of the Canton Township supervisors.
“We want to get the students involved in the community,” Pruce said.
Pruce explained that Make a Difference Day was created in 1992 by the USA Weekend supplement published in many newspapers.
This year Make a Difference Day is set for Oct. 26. Pruce said it is typically scheduled for the fourth Saturday of October.
Different programs are planned in the four townships in the district – Canton, Amwell, North Franklin and South Strabane.
In Canton, Pruce said a technology seminar is planned to assist those who may not be tech savvy about things such as the Internet and Facebook. The location of the seminar has not been finalized. Also planned are activities at Kade Nursing Home.
North Franklin and South Strabane are both expected to host electronics drives, while a family fun day is planned in Amwell.
Pruce said letters also will be sent to other school districts in the county, encouraging their students to also make plans for the day.
