Pittsburgh police ID armed suspect after SWAT call
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh police have identified a man they want to arrest on assault and threat charges after a SWAT team responded to a report that he had a weapon in an apartment.
The suspect is 27-year-old Neil Joseph Harris and police say he could be armed and dangerous.
Police were called to his apartment a few blocks from downtown about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, but cleared the scene after the SWAT team stormed the apartment but didn’t find him three hours later.
A woman told police the man had a machine gun and, at one point, was on the rooftop so police blocked off several streets, though police doubt that description of the weapon.
Police had closed several streets near the apartment building in an unsuccessful effort to contain Harris.
Their search continued Wednesday.
