Man gets 8-25 years in Pa. crash that killed girl
DOYLESTOWN (AP) – A man convicted of third-degree murder in a suburban Philadelphia crash that killed a 9-year-old girl and paralyzed her grandmother has been sentenced to eight to 25 years in state prison.
Prosecutors said 38-year-old Drew Bodden of Plumstead was racing another car and going more than 135 mph when his modified Mustang Cobra rear-ended an SUV on Route 611 in Doylestown Nov. 21, pushing the bumper inside the car and killing fourth-grader Holly Huynh in the back seat.
Her grandmother, Suzanne Berry, suffered massive injuries and was left nearly completely paralyzed.
Bodden cried at his sentencing Thursday and told the girl’s family that he “made a grave mistake.”
But Bucks County prosecutor Robert James called Bodden “callous and careless.”
