Police charge three with endangering welfare of children
Three people were charged with child endangerment after five children ranging in age from 8 to 14 were found to have access to marijuana and cocaine.
Charged with endangering the welfare of children and possession of cocaine, marijuana and paraphernalia were Latasha Ann Anthony, 32, and Robert Lee Johnson Jr., 33, both of Pittsburgh, and Tiffany Anne Goffart, 42, of 514 W. Grove Ave., McDonald. Anthony and Johnson are identified by police as the parents of the children.
Police were called Monday morning to Goffart’s home by an Allegheny County adult probation officer to assist her and a Washington County adult probation officer to do a compliance check on Goffart.
During a check of the house by probation officers, suspected marijuana was found along with a pipe and candy in a dresser drawer. Anthony told police not to take her children’s candy. Several small children were sleeping in the bedroom.
Goffart gave police consent to search her home. On a night stand in the bedroom, police found a cellophane bag containing a white powder that field-tested positive for cocaine. Sgt. Dennis Ahlborn said the cocaine was easily accessible to any of the children entering the room.
Anthony and Johnson denied that the drugs and paraphernalia belonged to them. Goffart told police that the two had been staying in that bedroom.
The charges will be sent by summons from the Oakdale office of District Judge Anthony Saveikis.
