New Freedom Grange to hold picnic
New Freedom Grange will host its first community picnic at Ryerson Station State Park from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Anyone who wishes to attend will be welcomed. Grange members will provide hot dogs and drinks, and each family or guest is asked to bring a covered dish or a dessert.
The Grange picnic will be combined with the annual Chambers family/Chambers Farm cookout, which has been held the third Saturday in August for the past decade. There is no charge for the event, and guests are invited to use the state park’s pool and hiking trails, also at no charge.
Guests are also encouraged to ask questions about the grange and/or the history of the Chambers family, and to take the opportunity to relax among friends and family. Simply drive past the park ranger’s home and look for the New Freedom banner. Those who need back support should bring a folding chair.
Guests are reminded that alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited at the state park.
