One killed on I-79 South near Carnegie

1 min read

State police said one person was killed in a three-vehicle crash at 2:43 p.m. Monday on Interstate 79 South at the Carnegie on-ramp.

Police said a blue 2006 Chevy Malibu, driven by Mary Jean Contaldo, 69, of Carnegie, was entering I-79 from the ramp when she lost control after attempting to correct her failure to negotiate a curve.

The vehicle was facing east in the right lane when a white box truck, driven by Kim Jin-Bok Felberbauer, 28, of Columbus, Ohio, struck the driver’s side of the car. Felberbauer’s truck then struck a fuel tanker, driven by Robert Ferry, 49, of Imperial, which was traveling south in the middle lane.

All three vehicles came to rest in the grass median.

Police said Contaldo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither Felberbauer nor Ferry was injured.
