Suspicious fire at storage sheds

WAYNESBURG – A state police fire marshal has been asked to investigate a suspicious fire Saturday night at Hillside Self Storage on Bedilion Road in Franklin Township.

Five or six of the storage units were damaged by fire while the remaining units in the 20-unit building received smoke damage, said Jeff Marshall, chief of the Waynesburg-Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company.

Marshall said the cause of the fire was suspicious. The fire started at one storage unit and spread to others. The fire company was called to the building at 11:22 p.m. and was assisted by the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company Firefighters were on the scene until about 2 a.m. Sunday.
