Community events
A Prime Time Weiner Roast will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the CBM campground. Those attending are asked to meet at the First Nazarene Church at 5:30 p.m. and everyone will travel in a bus. Entertainment at the picnic will be provided by a chalk artist and all ages are invited. Bring hot dogs and buns and everything else will be provided.
The Mission Committee of the First United Methodist Church of Carmichaels will be sponsoring a concession stand during the Coal Show Parade from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Come enjoy funnel cakes and more in the air conditioned hall.
Country music will be featured from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the New Freeport fire hall. Bands scheduled to appear are Plumm Lost and Bonnie and Friends. Cost is $4 and the event is sponsored by the ladies auxiliary.
Descendants of Russell and Ivy Deems will hold a family reunion Saturday at Lions Park in Waynesburg. Dinner will be at 1 p.m. People are asked to bring a covered dish. There will be a $1 wrapped gift and auction. For more information, call Shirley at 724-998-0733.
A stream study at Ryerson Station State Park will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Does splashing around in the creek looking for tiny bugs, crayfish and salamanders sound fun? Well, here is your chance to come to the park and do just that. The group will be meeting at the Iron Bridge. Remember to bring proper attire for being in the water, such as proper shoes, hip boots or chest waders.
Bowlers and five-person bowling teams are needed for the Tuesday Nite Woman’s Bowling League at Yanak Lanes, Jefferson. It is a nonsmoking facility but smoke breaks between games are permitted outside. Those interested are invited to a meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at Yanak Lanes.
