Police: Man choked wife, fought officers
A couple were arrested early Thursday by Washington police after the man allegedly assaulted officers as they tried to stop him from choking his wife.
Kenneth Nolan Sellers, 30, and Jessica Sellers, 24, no known address, were taken into custody outside a home in the 100 block of Jollick Manor about 2:45 a.m.
When Officer Peter Jaskiewicz arrived after receiving a report of a man beating a woman, he saw Kenneth Sellers inside a car. He appeared to be choking a woman, later identified as his wife.
Jaskiewicz tried to pull him off and take him into custody. Sellers then started fighting the officer, broke free and tried to flee.
Officers Paul Becker and John Miller arrived to assist Jaskiewicz. Sellers reportedly fought with all three officers, breaking free several times.
Jessica Sellers grabbed her husband’s pants and ran into a home at 180 Jollick Manor. She hid his pants and ran back out of the residence, police said. Police found large rock of crack and $220 in the pants pocket.
Kenneth Sellers was arraigned before District Judge Valarie Costanzo on charges of possession with intent to deliver crack, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, escape, criminal mischief, aggravated assault and three counts of aggravated assault on police. He was placed in Washington County jail on $40,000 bond.
She was charged with possession of crack, disorderly conduct and tempering with evidence. She was placed in Washington County jail on $2,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing for the pair is set for Sept. 4 before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
