3 teens arrested in McDonald burglary

2 min read

Three McDonald teenagers were charged Friday with burglarizing a borough barber shop last month.

A 17-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys were charged by borough police in juvenile allegations with burglary, conspiracy, theft, conspiracy, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and possession of paraphernalia.

Police were called July 9 for a report of a robbery at Darnley’s Barber Shop, 123 E. Lincoln Ave.

Police discovered that a rear window had been pried open and the lock on the inside door to the shop was damaged. Cash was stolen from a box inside the business. Fingerprints were found on a window.

Robert Darnley told police that he believed one of the residents in the building was responsible. A son of one of the residents told police he was involved in the burglary. He told police that two of his friends entered the business with him.

The teen reportedly used a pocket knife to jimmy open a door. Two of the teens then entered the building through the unlocked door, broke open a cash register and placed it in a garbage can.

The money from the register reportedly was used to buy marijuana, food, drinks and a gym membership.

One of the teens admitted to being involved in the burglaries along with two of his friends.

All three teens were released to their parents.
