Checkpoint nets no DUIs

1 min read

The Washington County DUI Task Force held a sobriety checkpoint Aug. 22 that resulted in a first for the task force: No one was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or for any other violations except for driving under a suspended license.

The checkpoint was held on Park Avenue in front of Trinity High School.

In all, 83 drivers traveled through, with two receiving a citation for driving on non-DUI-related suspended licenses.

One man was observed staggering along Park Avenue, and received a citation for public drunkenness.

Police said there was rain and a thunderstorm during the time the checkpoint was held.

Participating were officers from North Franklin, Peters and Cecil townships, and McDonald. At the same time, state police conducted roving patrols.
