Mock crime scene workshop set
WAYNESBURG – The Waynesburg University Department of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences and the office of admissions will host the spring Mock Crime Scene Workshop March 23.
The Mock Crime Scene Workshop provides high school students the opportunity to analyze crime scenes and collect and process evidence alongside Waynesburg University students and faculty, as well as experts in the field. The vast array of workshops offered will help students to determine if they can see a criminal justice or forensic science career in their futures.
“The morning workshops will consist of general crime scene processing, blood stain identification, basic blood stain pattern analysis and gun-shot distance determinations,” said Michael Cipoletti, assistant professor of forensic science. “In the afternoon, we will have a comprehensive crime scene to give students an opportunity to apply the techniques they’ve learned.”
By the end of the day, through the instruction of university students, faculty and representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police, students will be able to apply the principles and techniques learned to a challenging crime scene.
