Judge considers Beth-Center board seat applicants

1 min read

Washington County Judge Katherine B. Emery is weighing her appointment for a vacant Bethlehem-Center School Board seat from two applicants for the position.

Centerville resident James A. Gwyer became the second applicant when he petitioned the court for the board seat Thursdays, the deadline Emery set for interested people to seek the appointment.

The other applicant for the vacant seat created by the December resignation of Richard Martin is Thomas Bair of Centerville, who formerly served on the school board.

The decision rests with the court because the school board was split on votes taken last month to appoint one of the two men, and it missed the mandated 30-day deadline to decide.
