AF vet pleads to stealing $4K from Pa. vets’ group

SOMERSET (AP) – The attorney for an Air Force veteran says his client is “very remorseful and understands she made a big mistake” when she stole $4,000 from a Vietnam veterans organization in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

The (Somerset) Daily American reports 39-year-old Lorrie Sue Fisher, of Friednens, pleaded guilty Monday to sealing the money from the Somerset County Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 587 when she served as the group’s bookkeeper for two months in 2010.

Fisher will be sentenced by a county judge on April 11. Her public defender, Michael Kuhn, says Fisher realizes she hurt the group.

The money was stolen from a fund used to buy flowers for veterans’ families after their loved one died, but some was earmarked for a county courthouse memorial installed last year that had to be changed for lack of funds.
