WVU Hospitals planning new $52M outpatient center

1 min read

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — WVU Hospitals plans to build a $52 million facility at University Town Centre in Morgantown.

The WVU Healthcare Outpatient Center will be a three-story, 109,000-square-foot building that will include 127 exam rooms.

CEO Bruce McClymonds said Friday that by the time construction is done in 2016, a proposed new interchange off Interstate 79 also should be a reality.

He says the Affordable Care Act likely will increase demand for clinic visits, and the Physician Office Center next to Ruby Memorial Hospital can’t support any substantial growth.

Last year, WVU Hospitals’ outpatient clinics in Morgantown received 433,579 visits. By 2016, that’s projected to hit 536,909, with 25 percent occurring at the new location.

It will house up to 10 clinics, including family and behavioral medicine, neurology, cardiology, internal medicine and pediatrics.
