A widely admired columnist for The Wall Street Journal and the best-selling author of eight books on American politics, history and culture, Peggy Noonan will present “An Evening of Perspective with Peggy Noonan” at 7 p.m. Monday in Washington & Jefferson College’s Olin Fine Arts Center.

The lecture is part of the J. Robert Maxwell ’43 Visiting Scholar Series.

A former special assistant and speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan and former chief speechwriter for Vice President George H. W. Bush, she is considered one of this century’s premier presidential speechwriters. Noonan’s essays also have appeared in TIME, Newsweek, The Washington Post and other publications, and she provides frequent political commentary on television. Noonan’s most recent best-seller, “Patriotic Grace,” is a call for more elevated national politics.
