Canonsburg residents displaced by fire
Residents of four apartments in a Canonsburg building were displaced by a grease fire in one of the units Saturday afternoon.
Canonsburg firefighters were called about 3 p.m. to the building at 313 Euclid Ave. A resident of a second-floor apartment apparently left grease cooking in a frying pan on the stove when he left the residence, said fire Chief Tom Lawrence.
Firefighters were able to knock down the flames within 10 minutes of arriving, confining damage to the kitchen, Lawrence said. There was smoke and water damage in the remainder of the building owned by John Wudkwych of Canonsburg.
The Red Cross was on the scene to assist.
Assisting were firefighters from Cecil No. 2 (Muse) and the Rapid Intervention Team from the North Strabane and Peters Township fire departments.
