A Denbo couple and two children, ages 2 and 4, escaped serious injury Thursday when their home at 82 Vesta St. was destroyed by fire about 6:30 p.m. Crews were still on the scene of the blaze at 9:30 p.m.

Centerville Borough Councilman Chris Erickson said he was told by police the family was found outside the two-story building when rescue crews arrived.

“It’s a complete loss,” said Erickson, adding that the American Red Cross had been called to aid the family.

Fire departments responding to the blaze included those from Denbo, Vesta, West Brownsville, East Bethlehem Township, Finleyville and California, according to Washington County emergency dispatch. Further details were not available.
