Pair charged: Cody Paul Helmick, 23, and Morgan Watson, 20, both of 3136 W. Chestnut St., Washington, were each charged Monday with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a Christmas card containing $20 from a newspaper box on Weirich Avenue, Canton, Dec. 16. Watson also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of Distict Judge David Mark.
Paraphernalia charges: Adam Snatchko, 40, of 502 Giffin Ave., Canonsburg, and Melissa Behanna, 30, of 425 N. Main St., Chartiers, were charged Monday by Chartiers police with possession of drug paraphernalia after they were found with the items Jan. 4. Police received a complaint of a possible overdose outside the Crow’s Nest, 425 N. Main. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Women charged: Tracy Mattie, 49, of 300 Pine St., Brownsville, and Shawn Renee Weirich, 36, of 11 A Main St., Daisytown, were each charged by Chartiers police with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct stemming from a fight Jan. 4 outside Progressive Medical Services, West Pike Street. A truck was damaged during the fight, police said. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Illegal winnings: Stanley Williamson, 64, of Pittsburgh, was charged by state police at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino with placing a post bet at a poker table on Jan. 3. He improperly received $20 in winnings, police said. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Trespass charge: Anitra Frezzel-Little of Monessen was charged by state police at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino with criminal trespass after she was found at the casino Saturday.
Assault: Lebarron Law, 19, of Donora, and three unnamed juveniles, all from Monongahela, face charges following an incident last month at 37 Munntown Road. State police said Law, two 17-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy went to the residence to assault a juvenile Dec. 13. When they arrived, they were seen by Anthony Derrick, 19, of Eighty Four. Law and one of the boys struck Derrick in the face with their fists. When Derrick fell to the ground, all four kicked him. Derrick required stitiches to close a mouth wound. Charges against Law were filed with District Judge James Ellis, while the juveniles face charges through the Washington County Juvenile Probation office.
Donations stolen: The manager of Panera Bread reported that a man came into the store at about 9 a.m. Monday, then left and came back in several times, attempting to engage some customers in conversation, township police said. At 11:15 a.m., the manager noticed two donation boxes for breast cancer awareness were missing. It is not known how much money was stolen, police said.
Twice charged: Robert T. Novakavia, 22, of Fayette City, was charged twice by South Strabane police with public drunkenness Monday. Police were first called to Home Depot after getting a complaint he was on the curb. Thirty minutes later, police got a call he was dodging in and out of traffic on Route 19. He was released to his father.
Theft charge: Brandon A. Coughlin, 25, of 920 E. Maiden St., Washington, was charged Tuesday with theft by deception by South Strabane police after he returned merchandise he purchased while working at Home Depot, 155 Murtland Ave., in November. He allegedly changed the receipt and returned it earlier this month to the Bethel Park store. He received a $1,400 overpayment, police said. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Fraudulent return charge: Jesse Jankowski, 22, of 66 Laurel Ave., Washington, was charged last week by South Strabane police with theft by deception and retail theft for allegedly making a fraudulent return for $98 at Walmart, Trinity Point, last month. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
False name charge: Bonnie Lou Ermlick, 60, of 700 Jacobs Ferry Road, Carmichaels, was charged last week by South Strabane police with false identification and retail theft. She reportedly gave police an incorrect name, birth date and social security number while she was being arrested for stealing items valued at $13 from Gabriel’s, Northgate Plaza, Jan. 9. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Theft, drug charges: Jamie Weaver, 27, of Pittsburgh, was charged last week by South Strabane police with retail theft, possession of heroin and suboxone and drug paraphernalia after she reportedly stole items from Lowe’s, Trinity Point. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Driver charged: Jason B. Smith, 37, of Shadyside, Ohio, was charged last week by state police with driving under the influence of drugs and several traffic violations after police got several complaints of an erratic driver going south on Interstate 79 in South Strabane Jan. 3. When police spotted hinm, he was driving down the middle of the road. He told police he had just used three bags of heroin before leaving a friend’s home. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
PFA violation: Michael S. Settle, 25, of 66 Wilson Ave., Washington, was charged Tuesday by Washington police with violating a protection-from-abuse order obtained by Kayla Ducat from Judge Gary Gilman. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Drug charges: Amy Cole, 36, of 229 Cortez Drive, Canton Township, was arraigned Tuesday on chargs of possession of crack and drug paraphernalia stemming from a Jan. 6 traffic stop in Washington. She was placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Assault charge: Richard McClain, 47, of 31 E. Hallam Ave., Washington, was charged by Washington police with simple assault for allegedly assaulting Melissa Gomez Nov. 21. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Charged in robbery: Samuel Wheeler, 33, of 235 W. Chestnut St., Washington, was charged Friday with robbery. He is accused of robbing Joseph Garlisi of his cellphone and keys last month. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Burglary: Kristin Sibert, of 180 McAdam Ave., reported her house was burglarized while she was at work Friday morning. Police found her front door open with a laptop computer, television and a safe containing papers missing.
Bad checks: A employee of the Cricket store, 1052 Jefferson Ave., reported Friday that three people over five separate occasions had cashed checks at the store totaling more than $5,000. Police said the checks were from Color Works Printing Co. in Canonsburg, who told the employee they had been stolen. Police have suspects in the case.
Cigarettes stolen: A clerk at Circle K, 701 W. Chestnut St., reported that a man was purchasing two cartons of cigarettes Saturday night with a debit card. But as the clerk was reaching for a bag the man grabbed the cartons and ran from the store. The bank card was never swiped to purchase the cigarettes.
Card stolen: Kaleb King, of 368 Burton Ave., told police $60 in cash and his bank card were missing from his wallet when he woke Monday morning. King told police he was at a party the previous night and the theft may have occurred then. He checked his bank and found that two transactions totaling $300 were made with his bank card.
Purse stolen: Deborah Pierce, of Coal Center, reported her purse was stolen Monday while she was visiting her granddaughter at 23 Hallam Ave. Police said the purse contained two wedding rings worth more than $18,000.
Indecent walk: Paul Carrington, 26, of Apt. 2, 400 Duncan Ave., was cited for indecent exposure Monday after he was seen walking naked down Jefferson Avenue at 6:30 p.m. with his dog. Police called animal control to secure his dog and Carrington was taken to Washington Hospital for evaluation.
Robbery: Riley Doyle of 74 Beech St. reported being robbed as she was walking north on Baird Avenue Monday night. Doyle said two men approached her and demanded what was in a bag she was carrying. Doyle handed over $105 and they threatened to shoot her if she attempted to follow them.
Cited for trespass: Gerald Williams, 27, of whose last known address was in Washington, will be mailed charges for defiant trespass after he was seen inside an apartment building at 1090 Jefferson Avenue Tuesday. Police said he had been told he was not allowed on the property.
