North Charleroi man pleads guilty to sexually assaulting girl

1 min read

A North Charleroi man recently pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl at his home in August.

On Dec. 7, Robert Lapinsky, 66, of 704 Water St., entered an open plea to charges of statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors before Washington County Judge John DiSalle. An open plea means it’s up to the judge to determine a defendant’s sentence.

Lapinsky was arrested at his home Aug. 2 by Charleroi Regional police after the girl’s mother told police Lapinsky assaulted the girl while she was at his home with her parents for an overnight visit.

DiSalle ordered a presentence investigation while Lapinsky must also be evaluated by the state’s Sexual Offenders Assessment Board to determine if he meets the criteria of a sexually violent predator under Megan’s law.

Sentencing is set for 1 p.m. April 4.
