Salary board names chairman
WAYNESBURG – Greene County Commissioner Chuck Morris was appointed chairman of the county salary board Thursday.
Named vice chairman was Commissioner Archie Trader and Commissioner Blair Zimmerman was appointed secretary.
Following the reorganization, the salary board hired Sean Dougherty as a watershed specialist with the County Conservation District at a salary of $14.45 an hour. The board also hired Ryan Koffler as a temporary sheriff’s deputy at a rate of $12 an hour and accepted the resignation of Robin Ketchem as assistant deputy sheriff, effective March 29.
The board also accepted the resignation of Justin Kubicar as a fiscal officer in economic development, and approved a pay increase for Cassie Teegarden to $38,000 a year in the same department.
In other business, the salary board rehired Jackie Sponaugle as a casual van driver at $9.40 an hour in the human service department and furloughed Renee Wishon, an administrative assistant with Children and Youth.
Prior to meeting as the salary board, the commissioners approved the sale of 10 properties that have cleared judicial sale and remain unsold.
Most of the properties are in Perry Township, and the bids for those properties are $200 each. Three of the other properties are in Franklin and Dunkard townships and Jefferson Borough. They, too, were taken to judicial sale and remain unsold.
The commissioners also approved a change order from Allegheny Restoration to use 4-inch spray foam insulation rather than fiberglass for the courthouse roof project.
The board also made several appointments, among them naming Commissioner Archie Trader as a member of the local emergency planning committee. Appointed to the Human Services Advisory Board and Children and Youth Advisory Board was Commissioner Chuck Morris.
The commissioners accepted the resignation of Carl Biddle from the Farmland Preservation board of directors and appointed Richard Belding to replace him. Also, Greg Hopkins was appointed to serve on the Conservation board.
