Police charge Mt. Morris woman
MT. MORRIS – A felony charge was filed Wednesday at the office of Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates against a Perry Township woman for allegedly hindering the apprehension or prosecution of a robbery suspect.
Kimberly Anne Spitznogle, 45, of 159 Little Shannon Run Road, Mt. Morris, was charged after she allegedly attempted to conceal a note brought into the Belko Foods Store, 296 Mt. Morris Road, by an unknown male during an attempted robbery Jan. 14. Police said the male suspect concealed his face while he entered the store holding a yellow piece of paper containing the note.
When the suspect tried to gain access to a safe inside the store a physical altercation ensued with Misty Brambach, a Belko employee. A second employee, George Gribble, came to assist Brambach and the suspect fled, leaving behind the paper, police said. Brambach suffered a rib injury and had a tooth knocked loose as a result of the scuffle.
Police said the store video surveillance camera captured the events, including Spitznogle allegedly using her foot to push the note under a cabinet. It was never recovered, police said.
According the criminal complaint, on Jan. 22, Spitznogle admitted to police she had concealed the note because she believed there was a possibility that someone she knew may have been involved in the attempted robbery.
Spitznogle also was charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
