2 men charged in 2011 Canton Twp. incident
Two men already in the Washington County jail for other incidents are now charged in a December Dec. 18, 2011, robbery at a Canton Township apartment complex.
Hakeem Jamil Warren, 20, and Conor J. Chatman, 18, both formerly of Washington, were arraigned Wednesday before District Judge David Mark via video from the jail on charges of robbery, criminal trespass, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment. Mark set an additional $100,000 bond.
Both men were arrested last July by Washington police for separate incidents involving guns. Warren is accused of firing shots into a vehicle at Mega Express, Ridge and Murtland avenues. Chatman was arrested when he was found with a gun at a city playground.
Warren, Chatman and a third man are accused of going to the apartment of Stephanie Brown at Belvedere Acres, 60 Bel Air Drive, state police stated in court documents filed with Mark. She had several guests visiting. When one of the women left, she saw three men wearing masks and carrying handguns as she approached a stairwell in the apartment building.
The woman returned to Brown’s apartment, and the three men followed her inside, brandishing weapons. After going through the rooms, the men asked for the whereabouts of another man, but Brown and her guests had no information. The three men then left.
Brown gave police the names of the three suspects. She said they had bandanas over their faces, but she was able to recognize them. She also said they apologized to her in Facebook posts.
Charges are pending against the third suspect. A preliminary hearing for the pair is set for Wednesday.
