WIND RIDGE – The 2013 Miss Jacktown Fair Queen and Miss Jacktown Fair Princess Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. July 14 at in the Commercial Hall at the Jacktown Fairgrounds.

This year there are four queen contestants competing for the title of Miss Jacktown Fair. Each contestant has to submit an essay 300 words or less on “What The Jacktown Fair Means to My Community,” have a five-minute interview session with judges, model an evening gown with a short introduction and give a three-to-five-minute speech on “Why You Should Come to The Jacktown Fair.” The New Queen will be crowned by the 2012 Fair Queen Mandi Burns July 16 at the upper grandstand following the Jacktown Fair Parade.

The queen contestants are:

• Tanya Phillips, 17, daughter of Terry and Ethel Phillips of New Freeport . Phillips is a member of the West Greene High School marching band, Ginny McClellan Dancers and is an active junior firefighter with the New Freeport Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoys volunteering and singing.

• Tabatha Schiller, 17, daughter of Frank and Suzette Schiller of Aleppo. Schiller is a member of the Spanish club, International club, which recently went to London and Paris, National Honor Society, yearbook, young life and softball. She enjoys photography, reading, writing, riding, fishing and camping.

• Taylor Horr, 16, daughter of Mark and Nancy Horr of Holbrook. Horr is a member of the West Greene cheerleading and softball team.

• Michaela Hildreth, 17, daughter of William and Sharon Hildreth of Nineveh. Hildreth is a member of the Pioneer Barnyard, FFA, National Honor Society, rifle team, engineering club and senior planning committee. She was a senior prom attendant and Mr. West Greene emcee. She works at Hopkins store, is a day camp counselor. Michaela and enjoys hunting, shooting and fishing.

• Mandi Burns, 18, daughter of Ray and Lisa Burns of Wind Ridge, is the current Miss Jacktown Fair Queen. She is a graduate of the class of 2013 at West Greene High School where she was a part of the volleyball team and was a captain of the rifle team. She was president of the FFA and was on the national livestock judging team for the state of Pennsylvania. She was also a master of ceremony for Mr. West Greene, a member of the Barnyard, and was on the girls powder puff team. Burns is currently employed at Golden Living and is manager at Burns Delite. In August, she will begin her college career at West Virginia University.
