Distance runners invited to forum at Waynesburg U.
WAYNESBURG – A forum for distance runners will be held July 27 at the Goodwin Performing Arts Center at Waynesburg University.
The free forum is geared to all levels of runners, from high school to master’s level, said Chris Hardie, Waynesburg University’s head cross country coach.
High school coaches and runners will find the forum particularly helpful when preparing for the fall season, he said.
Panelist include, members of Waynesburg University’s track and cross country staff, the university’s athletic trainers, high school coaches, master runners and former NCAA student athletes.
The forum begins at noon and runs until 6 p.m. The schedule includes:
• High school training plans, noon to 1 p.m.
• “Front Runner” training, 1 to 1:45 p.m.
• Masters running training advice and pointers, 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.
• Diet and hydration (healthy snacks provided), 2:45 to 3:15 p.m.
• Runner’s roundtable, eight panelists, 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.
• Examples of a dynamic warm up, 4:15 to 4:45 p.m.
• Weight training and running form analysis, 4:45 to 5:15 p.m.
• Transitioning to college running (high school athletes), 5:15 to 5:30 p.m.
• Campus tour, meet with admissions, 5:30 to 6 p.m.
