Cecil pair reach deal in abuse case

1 min read

A cruelty to animals case was withdrawn Friday against a man and woman from Cecil Township under the terms of a Washington County Court settlement regarding the future care of three horses seized from their custody last year.

The settlement calls for Lisa Battistone and Chester Wasnik of 78 Windcrest Drive to deposit with the court $10,200 for unspecified reasons and relinquish one horse to Cindy Cunningham, the humane officer with Call and Report Inhumane Cruelty and Abuse of Animals, who charged them in the case, the record shows.

The other two horses will be returned to Battistone and Wasnik.

Cunningham seized the horses in August over accusations they didn’t have proper pasture, veterinary care and clean water.

The settlement reached before Judge Gary Gilman stipulates Cunningham and her associates are prohibited from making derogatory remarks about Battistone and Wasnik on the Internet or in the newspaper.
