Dance for Dreams will return to Storey Square in downtown Uniontown from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 20.

The festival, which celebrates the arts with a focus on physical and mental health through movement and dance, benefits the Uniontown Arts Fellowship’s Phoenix Arts Center. This year’s festivities feature the addition of the Art n’ Sole 5K and other fitness-related activities.

The Art n’ Sole 5K will send runners and walkers past public art in the city. The race begins and ends at Storey Square.

As participants finish the race, they will enter a dance festival, which will act as the post-race party. It will begin with yoga for runners, music, healthy snacks and a race T-shirt tie-dye station.

There also will be dance participant awards, a “Just Dance” game station, Chinese auction and 50/50 raffles. There will be food and crafts vendors.

Also new this year is recording a Harlem Shake video, the announcement of a Flash Mob and a Soles4Souls shoe donation center.

“Last year was the first year for a festival of this kind in the city,” said Kelly Judy, UAF recording secretary and festival creator. “This year, we expect it to be bigger and better because now the community is learning what to expect.”

The goal is to raise $2,000 for the Uniontown Arts Fellowship for the purchase of audio-visual equipment.

The suggested entry donation is $5 per person. Donations of $10 or more made by early or registered festivalgoers will receive a Dance for Dreams T-shirt. The 5K costs $25 for adults and $20 for ages 18 and under, which includes the festival entry donation.
