2 empty cars derail in Hamilton; no injuries

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) – Officials said two empty cars of a CSX train derailed in Hamilton and have blocked a railroad crossing in the southern part of the city.

Hamilton Fire Department Deputy Chief Troy Pugh said in a statement that two cars derailed at approximately 8:15 p.m. Friday. No injuries have been reported.

Pugh said the Hamilton Hazardous Materials Unit was called to the scene, but it was discovered that two flat cars had derailed.

Officials said the train is blocking the rail crossing between Front Street and Hanover.

Pugh said that CSX railroad is investigating the derailment.
